Dear Members

Track Care WA is proposing to restore the old Cobra Station homestead next year.

The building has suffered many years of neglect and requires urgent attention to save it from collapse.

To assist us, if any travellers are going that way, especially those with building construction knowledge, we would really appreciate a report on the building.
This ideally would include all materials and sizes there of required to get a roof over the old building to preserve it in the short team until more substantial works can be done.( timbers & tin)
TCWA is also in the process of restoring Warriedar, Woolgorong out station. Burnerbinmah and Binthalya.

If you can assist please contact me

Cheers

Jeff

Where is it Jeff? I don't think I know that station...
I've also looked up Places typing in "Cobra Station" in the search but there is no match.

Thanks Michelle

David & Michelle
Thanks for your interest.

Cobra Station is approx 50km west of Mt Augustus.
It is at the northern end of the Cobra Dairy Rd.

Goggle has some references to Cobra Station

Cheers

Found it!

The location is in Places (ExplorOz database of everywhere!) but the search didn't find it (have reported this to David !! )

here's the link to Cobra Station for anyone that wants the coordinates, and when you have photos please upload to this page and then TrackCare can publish the after photos and we can publish the before and after. Great concept, thanks TrackCare.

Hi Jeff

We are off to Cobra Station next week. Not sure if there is two - one old one and the current one or is that the same thing. I rang them and they have camping facilities. Where is the old homestead - part of the current cobra station?

I could do up a report on it.

Cheers

Thanks for your offer.

I am unsure as to the exact location of the old homestead. Howerver after discussion with another TCWA member, he recalls it to be a few Km from the current in use homestead.
I am sure that if you ask the staff at Cobra when you get there, they will direct you to tits location.
This building is heritage listed so any restoration needs to conform with the exist.

Our main concern is the roof.
Sizes of rafters posts, beam's etc... would be most helpful.

Many thanks

Jeff

Hi Serendipity

You sound like just the man Track Care WA would like to have as a member, to advise and assist us on various other homesteads that we are restoring.
Many of the old buildings have roofs or veranda's that are in need of your expertise.
If it is possible to contact you I will let you know of all the projects the we are currently involved with.
Could you visit our web site( trackcare.com.au ) and send me an email from there.

Look forward to your report
