I drove Trailers Sydney - Melb - Sydney (and other places) for 8 yrs all up.

Only ever hit a roo once.. That was in the car.. $3500 damage.. Would say they are over rated! and over priced.

Truckster, the key point which you've left out is .... were the vehicles fitted with a Shoo roo?

But you hit a roo!!! So you are one person without a shoo roo who has hit a roo. Anyone with a shoo roo who has hit a roo to balance the books?

I rocked up at my mate's work some time ago and found him and co-workers laughing their heads off. They just took delivery of a sedan with the front stoved in and a little smashed up shoo roo device courtesy of a boomer. The owner was laughing at the irony of whole thing.Nice southerly coastal fishing trip someday.

I have never hit a roo yet.
I run the Shu Roo whenever I am driving in roo areas.

They do definitely react to the noise as far as I can see, and most of the time they run away from it. You can't count on this reaction all the time tho. If the lead roo crosses the road, the rest may or may not follow, so a bit of care when driving at dusk and dawn is required as well.

Only a fool depends on any device for total protection, I see them as an aid to be combined with your skills as a responsible and aware driver to help avoid problems.

I didn't buy the Shu-roo it came with the car, but if i was to replace this car I would feel inclined to have one again.

Cheers
