Hi ALL
I am wondering how many Max tracks do you think I will need,as I will be spending a fair bit of time on the beachand sand country in WA,at present I have two but after speaking to a few other people they have suggested that 4 may be a better option thanks Kebru

I started with two which was good & got you going in most
places but found that with 4 it is that much better as all my drive wheels (diff locks) get the traction
Note: make sure you get the new design, it seams to be stronger, I cracked one of the old shapes a few weeks ago & now can not stack them for storage & the new replacement will not pack with them at all.
They work great in sand & mud even if it is a meter at a time some times
good luck

I bought two from ARB yesterday - how do I tell if I have the new ones or the old ones - ARB did not mention anything - I would assume the older ones should be cheaper.

Garry, the MKII model has keyhole-shaped hole to accept the proprietary mounting posts. The older model only has round holes.

Thanks for that - so I assume there are no other major differences - just checked
mine has key hole holes.
Thanks

Hi Kebru
All depends on what sort of beaches you are going onto. If you don;t plan to get stuck but want a safety back up, get two. If you go where you are more likely to get stuck, get four.
Being caravanners rather than 4wd adventurers, our pair were purchased just for insurance. Max Trax recommended getting four, but to save on money and space we just got two. With 7½ tonne over eight wheels down in the stones (so hard to dig in) at
Carawine Gorge and tyre pressures as low as we could risk, i unpacked the pair of Max Trax. Like magic.

You on your own or running with another vehicle ?? I believe in the Buddy system for most things including 4WD'ing. A set of 2 per vehicle will have you all sorted
2 will get you out of most issues , unless of course you were very slow in admitting your bogged and your lockers have just increased your tyres digging ability
If your towing anything then yes a second set would definitely be recomended

I think Kebru should get 4.
4 is better than 2.
For starters it puts you 2 up on people who only buy 2.
Then it puts you 4 up on people who have none.
With 4 you can put 2 on each side of your roof rack & no matter what side you pass people on they will see your tracks.
If you put them both on one side you never know if the people you are trying to impress are going to see them. There is a 50% chance they wont see them. But you also have a 50% chance of someone seeing 4 at once if you put them all on the same side & that would be cool.
If you you only buy 2 & put one on each side you will surely be ridiculed because everybody will think you only have one.
Remember "IMAGE IS EVERYTHING", so you gotta get 4.
