Hi all, anybody travelled this road in the last few weeks, does it cut any time off the "leg" and is it worth doing for the "sights" ....
I wont have time to go out to the Park so will miss the mounts.
Cheers
Joe

Hi Joe, from a recent discussion on the caravanners forum, it seems that the road is still closed.CF Balladonia Someone rang the Shire.

Parmango Road itself services farms and is usually a good road, but from there on through the station and onwards is an unmaintained road.

Hi Joe

We've had over 30 mls of rain each of the past two days, and still raining, so it will all be heading towards Esperance.

As you go past, have a look and see if the barricades are still up and let us know please.

Have a safe trip

Hi again, no barricades up so dont know what the story is, it was raining so did not even take a look down there, tried to get some info at the Balladonia RH but no luck ...
It is very "clay" soil so would not like to get stuck down there with rain eh.
Cheers

Thanks Joe, probably the locals are getting through, but others are being discouraged as no doubt someone has to rescue unprepared travellers who come to grief. You must have pretty good internet to keep on line through that area.

Apart from an old station homestead where people can camp (and it is well and truly littered), you are just watching wheel ruts and corrugations through flat scrublands, similar country to the highway around Balladonia.

Hi Joe n Mel n Kids,

We have just come back from that way; arrived home tonight. According to the locals the road varies markedly according to the local conditions. If it has rained forget it according to the locals. One told us of her relatives coming from Tasmania and they took the road only to be bogged. However if it was fine go for it if you want. After all it is only corrugations. (smile)

When we left the Dukes CP it was fine but before we got to Esperance it was pouring with rain in so we were quite glad we hadn't used it.

By the way, the Dukes CP at Orleans Bays is a godd place to stay.
