Hi to all
Have been trying to do some research into Policemans
Waterhole and have decided I need to ask for advice from those with lots more knowledge than me.
We are currently in
Winton on our way to
Alice Springs to show our 11yo grandson Uluru, the olgas, Kings Canyon etc. etc. We will have a few days, hopefully 4 or 5, to look around on the way and apart from going to
Devils Marbles, etc. have heard about policemans
waterhole.
Would we be able to get in there with a Kedron 20' van?
Is there anything else someone can recommend we see in that area?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Jules

I was under the impression that access was out for the rest of the year since the rains last summer badly damaged the access tracks. Others may have more recent information.
Cheers,
Val.

Hi Jules
As Val has pointed out, the roads in that area were closed probably two or three months ago, but on checking the the NT Parks website and the NT Road conditions website, there are no closures showing now. Just a caution of rough surface and high clearance 4wd only on part of the Kurundi Road.
You have asked today - they day i have been working on my trip report for
Old Police Station Waterhole and surrounding areas. If you can contact me with an email address, i can send you my raw and unfinished notes on the area. They are some days away from making it to the My
Blogs here and onto my website. You can

Subject to the roads being open, there is plenty of room and no problems at all accessing with a Kedron. Some of the road south from Epenarra Station to the
Davenport Range Park turnoff was loose sand so we were pleased we had the extra power of the F250. I recall it is about 120 kilometres from the Stuart Highway to Epenarra, then a further 40 south to the park turnoff, and something like 9 kilometres to the
waterhole. It is a beautiful spot to spend a few days.
