On our trip to New Zealand this year they were saying 50/50 but then they have vicious little varmits over there!

I've always used 50:50. You smell a bit "Clinical" but it works. It will settle out..
shake it up again & wack it on..:))).....oldbaz.

I gave up on the dettol/baby oil mix and use Bushmans.
Have both the 20% and 40% tropical strenghs.

Same here.

Also tried the Cape York method Listerine, and other home remedies.. Then my wife asked - why not just use bushmans? Easier to apply, not oily, it really works, and no need to wash hands after?
;-) she was right - again

Livin in the NT midgies can be a real pain in the coastal areas, mozzies too. I have found that mixing a bottle of rid(not the pressurecan) with equal parts dettol and baby oil to be an extremely effective deterrent/cure.
cheers

I've heard Bundy rum and sand is a good deterent.

Mix sand and bundy together, apply liberally, mozzies drink rum, get drunk and kill each other by throwing sand grains at each other!! Boom boom.

We've used the old dettol and baby oil method, but found a mix of that tanning stuff, cocnut oil, and dettol to be heaps better when the midges are real thick, like fishing in the mangroves etc.. ..
But then, usually just end up going back to bushmans everyhere else.
