I drove Walkers crossing after the Birdsville races 09' assisted two vehicles to make it to Innamincka as it was during the sand storm that later hit Sydney.

They were unable to find the tracks as the sand had covered them & tourist had souvenired signs, I had GPS track so followed our way out.

Yeah, the Cooper has been pretty wet!

I remember when that track was opened as a public access route that the bridge at walkers Crossing was pulled down so it wouldn't need to be maintained.

But heard a rumour some months back that the bridge might be rebuilt because the access for mining vehicles has been so poor.

Gernot,
The track traverses overflow country of the Cooper Creek and the changed conditions has flooded the district since the first big flood which was about 2 years ago.

The punt across the Cooper is another result pf the water received to date.

I haven't heard about the bridge being pulled down though as the picture shows with the crossing being is such a low lying location there would be substantial civil works to repair after the floods.

To date I haven't heard of the track re-opening.

Cheers

Steve
