We're looking for a van, having recently sold a Jayco Outback Eagle camper which was good, but now after aircon, separate beds for kids, less set-up time, more weather-proof (no wet canvas to pack away) and comfort.

Any suggestions for vans with bunks?
13 year old is already 5'10".

Prefer bunks as kids (7 +13) hate sharing a double bed AND found making up beds in dining area impractical with Jayco- we want to sit there at night.

Spouse favouring an ensuite and shower, but I'm not keen to clean another shower.

Thanks

have you looked at the jayco expanda range
now have a hard lid so no more wet canvas.
the 16-49-2 might be good but dosnt have shower etc
we went the 16-49-3 that has shower/toilet with the option of turning lounge into a bed
we have just gone from a jayco eagle to the expanda and wish we did it years ago.
fast set up huge space and no wet bed ends
cheers

Hi Oz wrangler,

Try looking at the Jayco 17-55-5 or add "sh" to the end if you want a shower toilet model. Take a look at the Northstar Sofala, and the Coramal 616 family series.

Cheers Wilko

A mate of mine has the Jayco Expanda 17-**-** shower/toilet model. Double bed both ends/shw toilet/bunks in the middle. Great family van. He has just done a trip of about 10,000 kms with wife and three kids (2 teens and a 11 yr old) . Plenty of room for them all to sleep .
The bunk area can become a second sitting area during the day if needed and the regular sitting area can also become another sleeper.

We are waiting for our new base station. We too had a Eagle camper when the kids were younger and a pop top and a camper trailer that is still in the shed. In the B/S the bunks are adult size. In the kitchen area the 5 of us were standing around with plenty of room. What we like the most is the storage. On big trips the twin tub will come. On shorter weekends the motor bikes will fit. The hard top bed is the way to go on the newer models on both B/S and Expander. It all depends on budget and your tug.
