Well we are planning a trip to Tasmania in February and would like to gather some information on the trout flyfishing prospects over there. I am passionate about flyfishing but have not done much trout fishing.
Is there a season to try for trout?
So if we are landing in
Hobart how far do we travel to find a trout stream - and what are the rules in Tassie - license? permission to fish streams? Catch limit?
Will I need waders - they take up a lot of room in the luggage.
Maybe a guided trip - what are the cost for those.
Now the key issue - which fly is the one to use in Tassie, and what line to run.
I will be fishing with a 4 piece composite development 6 wt and have a choice of lines -
Hope someone here is a keen flyfisherman from Tassie.
Cheers
Serendipity

Have a look at Inland Fisheries Commission Tasmania. Season is around November to May or maybee June.

Regardless how good a fly fisher you are, my recommendation is to book a fishing tour company to take you to the best spots.
Some years ago we spent three days with Charles Gilmour from Tiger Trout Tours at their cabin on Little Pine
Lagoon, then fished several locations over the next few days.
Unfortunately, it would appear that this company is no longer in business as I cannot find them on the Internet.
I'm sure you will get info from a local Tasweigian or two.
If not, try a web search for Trout Tour businesses in Tassie.
