After feedback on the Jimboomba Camper Trailer Maddison offroad with staircase.

We are looking for a trailer that can survive a trip around Australia - reasonable amount offroad (inc Cape/GRR/etc)

Are there any issues with this brand and/or model?

How is the dust ingress?

Water proof if it rains - or do they leak?

Does anyone have photos of the underbody?

etc

About 10 previous threads concerning the camper. Search list is here

Hopefully you'll find something useful in there.

There are photos of the "Maddison Off Road" on the Jimboomba site which I just had a look at.
My comment after looking at their photos is that there are no shock absorbers shown, which I would think are necessary.

I could not see the spring pick up points but a major problem with semi elliptic springs on the Cape Roads anyway is the tearing away of spring mounts. I would satisfy myself that he connections of the springs to the chassis are more than adequate.

It comes with a ball coupling which could be a problem if you wanted to go on the OTT at any creek crossing. A Treg is pretty necessary for that but for most other places a ball is probably OK, but can be expensive if over angled.

The axle looks light but I am not an expert on this as I have independent suspension.

If you choose one , I would add shock absorbers, and always carry a spare main leaf , u bolts and centre pin for the springs. You should very regularly check the U bolts and centre bolt when travelling. I have seen a main leaf break going in to Palm Valley and it isn't pretty.

We have an Explorer with extras and I brought it because it was the best value soft floor c/t for the dollars I wanted to spend $30K.
They are extremely well built and I would take it any where the Isuzu MU can tow it and it is a very capable 4WD. Ours has the Cruiser Master independent air suspension with the DO 35 hitch.
