I would like to get some information about the reinactment of the first crossing of the Simpson Dessert by a Nissan Patrol, I think it is about June 2012

This might help. Just google it.
Nissan to celebrate 50th Anniversary of first
Simpson Desert vehicle crossing
by Nissan 4x4 Australia
The first vehicle crossing of the
Simpson Desert will be celebrated on its 50th anniversary in September 2012 with a re-enactment of the historic event featuring two of the original participants.
Geologist and explorer Dr Reginald Sprigg, his wife Griselda and their two children, Doug (then seven) and Margaret (10), made the pioneering trip from
Andado Station to
Birdsville in 1962 in a short wheelbase Nissan Patrol G60ahead of a small retinue of other four wheel drive vehicles.

Dr. Sprigg and Wife Griselda and family are also responsible for the establishment of
Arkaroola resort and conservation
park.
I was recently at
Arkaroola and saw the Sprigg Family History in photos on the walls of the reception centre but I don't recall the 1962 photo you posted being amongst them.
Thank you for posting it.

Current situation is as below Alan.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks Robin
There are already a few enquiries coming through to Nissan but they are not ready to process genuine enquiries yet.
There will be no opportunities to accompany the small group doing the re-enactment but Nissan are hoping to have a group of Patrol owners to receive the group on arrival (date still being negotiated) into
Birdsville, then take then across to the west.
The Nissan website explains the outline of why they are doing it.

"There will be no opportunities to accompany the small group"
Gee Robin if they opened the trip up to anyone they could have a 100+ cars turn up for the drive & of course God forbid if the old G60 was to break down they wouldn't want too many witnesses being a publicity stunt for the release of the new model Patrol ;-)

Won't happen with my brother in law Craig , but if it did you'd see something like this the next day.
Nissan Press Release.
---------------------
Tough as the G60s are, 50 years of battling the hard North Simpson
dessert eventually brought them to a stop when the lack of
cup holders in these early models meant coffee starved drivers
missed a turn and bogged in a huge sand drift.
But a saviour has since been born.
