I recently had a long ranger fuel tank installed on a my new Dmax.

Ufortunately I found out that there was around 25 litres of unuseable fuel left in the tank.

I spoke with LR rep yesterday and I was informed that ARB at Wentworthville had installed the hoses incorrectly. I understand it's a 5 minute job to fix.

I had a look for fittng instructions on the net and was going to get my brother in law to have a look at it when we get to Adelaide, but I can't find instructions.

Hopefully I can get it fixed by an ARB shop in Adelaide rather than trying to get back to Sydney.

Hi Boo Boo. I have one fitted to my Wrangler and when I half fill the main tank fuel get siphoned into the aux tank. I was wondering why I was running out so quick. But I have a quarter tank in reserve. Just pump it back. As for the L R site there is a video on how to set it up. Cheers. Steve.B...

Recommend Brad at ARB Elizabeth - he managed to get 70L out of my 70L LR Tank - took him a while but he did it.

Some one might recall the thread about these tanks. We get over 600km on the full mark. We waited for it to go on the E line after 1000km and it still had about 25lt. Does that sound right or like the older post is the wiring wrong. Being a female id like a bit of knowledge on the subject.

25 litres is way too much unusaeble fuel.

When I discovered my problem I asked a few more knowleable people and they all said the same.

Their opinions were the residue fuel should be3 to 7 litres.
Thats why I rang LRFT andwas told the only reason I would have that much fuel left was the hoses were not attached properly.

It appears you have the same problem.

Thankyou I thought it was way too much left. I just had a look ive done 443km and its still well over the full line. I just found the docket where we filled up to 1000km we put in 143lt.

If you don't have any luck in Adelaide, let me know ... I can recommend a Murray Bridge firm who fitted our Long Ranger tank.

Thanks for the info Jothefw

But I think I've got the info to fix it.

I had a look at new Dmax here in Broken Hill and then compared it to mine. I then rang the ARB people in NSW and found that they take the original hoses off and put new ones on and use hose clamps to put them on the quick release fittings.

After lunch I only need to undo the hose clamps and swap the fuel lines over.

Well.....

Not only did ARB at Wentworthville reverse the fuel lines they also stuffed up the 'blow back pipe".

Thought I'd check the rest of the set up on the Dmax in the caryard and then have a look at my car.

The 'blowback pipe' had a right angle turn in it, or if you like a very sharp kink. No wonder I was getting fuel coming out of the filler when the tank was near full.

The lazy buggers could not be bother to trim the hose and get rid of the kink.
