I have been quoted that a ezylift =$650 and Hayman Resse $750 from the Jayco dealer in Sydney. Now I rung the Holden dealer ship and told them the make and model of my Holden VZ station wagon and he quoted me $420 fitted? I asked him what brand of WDH it was and he could not say. That said, I would think getting a WDH from the holden dealer for my holden car would be the go? Huge price difference.

Toby it would be helpful if you gave some details of the van, and whether or not it's the shepards hook type or the heavy duty type.

Having said that I would be more than a bit concerned if your holden dealer does not know the brand of the WDH.

Probably better to go for a brand name.

I have an ezylift which works well for me. It does not seem to hang as low as the HR ones.

HR introduced the same style WDG as the Eaz Lift a year or two back. The old style with the trunions is known as the classic style and the new ones as the standard series.

Which one ? One that has a decent reputation among the towing community, supplied by 'someone who knows their product' and setup by someone who knows all about towing. It is possible that the Holden dealer's staff will just be flicking through a catalogue at best and scratching their heads re installation - the Van dealer might be up to speed, but why not go to a towing specialist ? It is their core business - forget the price difference - once you are mobile on the highway, you need complete confidence in the rig.

Hi Toby. I have a WDH supplied by GMH under their own brand that I used with a VY Commodore and now use with my Jackaroo. I understand it to have been manufactured by Hayman Reese for GMH. It is quite strong and handles my 18ft Coromal with ease. No problems with it at all.

Hi Toby,

The are a pretty simple system and I understand that it's more important to have the WDH rated correctly to your drawbar weight.

We fitted a cheap one which doesn't look very posh and would probably horrify some people, however it works perfectly for us.

Toby
They come in weight configuration IE the tow ball down load of your van. which is approx 10% of the vans ATM. have a look at the catalogue each WDH has a kg no beside it and that how you decide.
