G'day all
I am getting a bit of dust in the pod and want to put a couple of air vents on the roof to pressurize the pod.
I've had a look on the net, but can't find much.
Can someone point me in the right direction.
I'll be in
Adelaide next Monday for a week.

Hi Boo Boo
You might have a look at Whitworths marine website. The marine community have many varied vents on boats.

Never thought of that.
They might even a a formula for how many vents for a given space.

Hi Boo Boo,
I was in
Adelaide two weeks ago and had fridge troubles. Went to Dario Caravan Repairs at 1 Pinn St St Marys. Ph 0882774388. They did a great job - highly recommend them. They have a
shop full of parts and acc for vans etc. Could be worth a try.
FYI, I put vents into a Triton canopy for the same reason some time ago. Used the hinged tilt up type, fitted towards the front of the canopy and faced them forward thus pressurizing the canopy and had no dust problems. Simple to snap closed when raining. ARB also have some slimline ones that will fit under a roof rack. Cheers, Mike

I might give the caravan place a ring. Although the ARB vents are probably what I want I won't buy from ARB because they are in my bad book at the moment!

Hiya BooBoo
It doesn't take much positive pressure inside a canopy to eliminate the ingress of dust.
On our Rodeo with canopy we sealed all the joins with insertion rubber and silicone. Still had a bit of a dust problem, so fitted a right-angle piece of 25mm PVC conduit (facing forward of course)- and that eliminated all problems.
And it looked tidy too!!

Thanks for the info wombat,,based on what you say I probably only need one vent.
Where did you fit the PVC joint and how do you stop
water getting in?

Boo Boo ------ I fitted these on the front vertical surface ---- if mounted this way, they have about a 4mm drain hole at the base to let out any
water --- you cut about (from memory) a 75 mm hole through panel and it flush mounts with s/steel self tapping screws --- silicone around hole. ----- I've been through some heavy rain & they don't leak. ---- I think most marine applications would have them mounted horizontally on top of a cabin or similar --- I can't see why they wouldn't work for you this way either ------- cheers.

If you don't want to buy direct from ARB, you could purchase a vent from
Adelaide OffRoad, an independent ARB reseller.

G'day Careen
Unfortunately I have found salesman will say anything to get a sale,, especially those selling 4 x 4 accessories.
Having said that I do need vents and I now have a lot of options to choose from.
The last option was from member Dave (BHQ) here in in
Broken Hill.
We were having dinner with our lovely wifes last night and he use to drive long distance coaches.
He use to run a hose from the front of the bus into the
bins and that simple idea kept the dust out of the luggage.
In my case that idea would work quite
well as I can take out a tie down anchor I'm not using and run a hose into the pod without having to cut another hole.
I'll have a chat with my more knowledgeable brother in law about how to do it when I get to
Adelaide on Sunday.
