Wandering down the main street of Broken Hill and saw and odd looking 4wd/truck.

Had a closer look and it had British number plates and an exploroz sticker.

The vehicle is a 'Stauer Puch' and is baby poop yellow.

I had a quick chat with the young couple that owned the vehicle and they have bought it out to Australia and have done a fair bit of travelling over here, including 2 wet seasons in the top end.

They are leaving BH today and going to White Cliffs then off to Sydney.

If you see them on the road have a chat with them.

Isnt Steyr Puch Austrian? The same company that designed the australian infantry rifle currently in use I think.

Yes, I saw it parked at Westside Plaza just before lunch.

It looked a bit like a gypsie encampment on wheels.

I thought it was a Steyr, you don't see many of these in Oz, though in the 70's the army had one model. I'm not sure of the speeling but it was something like 'Pinsgauer'. There's still a few of them about and you see them occasionally on the road. Very short wheel base and as slow as buggery.

I just had a brief 'senior's moment'.

The Daimler-Steyr-Puch vehicle I was referring to was the Haflinger 4X4.
