Guy I work with comes in today and tells us of a good samaritan deed he does on the way home yesterday arvo.He spots a caravan in Wandandian on NSW Sth coast sitting on the side of the road with a wheel off and the axle is resting on the ground.
He pulls over to help and eventually finds out that the driver left home in
Sydney knowing he only had 3 wheel studs holding one wheel on and it eventually lets go down here at Wandy and the wheel parts company with the caravan. So after some sweating and jacking, they get the wheel off so they can get to the whole shemozzle and try to fix it. He offers to even take the guy back to Nowra to get some new wheel studs and help him fit them.
To cut a long story short, the guy decides to wait for the NRMA and couldn't even thank John for helping him out.!
His wife walked over highly embarrassed and did it for him.
Just unbelievable isn't it.?!!
cheers Unc

Unbelievable..... no not at all. People get so busy and so uptight that they lose focus of simple things that are important. Alternatively he was just a butthead.

I agree,he was probably extremely stressed out, almost to the point where he was in shock.
The sound of a hub rubbing on the road and the tyre disappearing into a ditch, with a van lurching all over the road would be enough to do it for me.
On top of that he most likely felt like the worlds biggest butthead.

You are not wrong. I find it happens a lot on this
forum. Several forumites take the time to answer their question...or do their googling for them...and never a thanks to be seen.
Take thread 90433 as an exmaple.

I could not agree more!
It gets right up my nose, I wonder if the same thing would happen if you where talking to the in person?
I seem to remember, someone saying, "You can't buy good manners!"

What is unbelievable is that he left with only three wheel studs intact. There must have been a reason for two or three (??) breaking, and that same reason will cause the others to break sooner than later. From the description is sounds like a single axle caravan - a wonder major damage hadn't occurred to the caravan.

Yes MH it was a single axle, and very very lucky not to get any other damage,it is an 80 k zone through Wandandian though, but still lucky to say the least.

Stuff the van and the selfish clown towing it, what about a poor pedestrian or motor/cyclist it could have killed or maimed!
