Just wishing to know if it is possible to tow a 17 ft pop top caravan from
Arthur River to Corrinna along the Western Explorer Road in late Feb. We have a 2007 Pajero Diesel. We've heard the road is narrow and steep.
Regards Marty

In October it was quite a good gravel road & all the steep sections are bitumen, we had no issues towing our Vista Crossover.

Just
check your overall length for the fatman barge crossing the Pieman - we knew we wouldn't fit on with an 18' van and Patrol, whereas another person with a 16' Bushtracker and patrol just fitted. The Western Explorer is quite stony in
places (sharp stones) and can be rough. Is it a dedicated off road caravan?

We last travelled that road a couple of years ago, Landcruiser towing 2.5 tonn van, didn't have any problems, although at that time the road was a bit rough.
The Fatman at Corrina has a maximum carry weight of 6.5 tonnes, and the maximum wheel base length is 9 meters.
If you don't fit on the barge you can continue down the West Coast by travelling through Savage River,
Waratah, Tullah etc.
Enjoy the State.
Cheers
Baz

Watch the bends. Nearly got wiped outon that road last Feb by a sand truck coming at me on my side of the road at about 110 kph. Me having taken to the verge, he missed my mirror by about 20mm. Lucky I had somewhere to go.
