Recaro seats for 200 series

I wished to fit my old Recaro's from my Patrol into the 200 series, however the 200 has air bags fitted in the seats and I am told it is ilegal to turn off the airbags.
Is any one aware of a Recaro seat with air bags fitted or any other after market seat.

Ring these people. They are the Recaro experts and will be able to tell you.

The advice you have been given is correct. It is illegal to modify the vehicle to remove any originally fitted safety equipment. I am aware that Recaro is working on a seat with side airbags but that it is a long way from getting Australian compliance. As well you would need to check with your insurance company that they would still cover you even if you could source a replacement seat with side airbags. Your registration organisation may also have an interest in the matter as would Toyota

The 200 seat is not in the same class as my old Recaro.

If you have any back problems the Recaro/Scheel etc are a life saver.

Does that answer your question, or have I taken your one word "why" the wrong way.

Are you going to tell me the 200 seat is better than Recaro?
