hi Greendog,
great to have you call me upon the highway the other day
as far as a camp spot between Halls Creek and Fitzroy Crossing I would suggest Mary Pool on the Mary River.
its 108 km west of Halls Creek and 180 km east of Fitzroy crossing
Has toilet block and a fair bit of room but does get busy.
You cross the river on a low level crossing to camp area.
we took the opportunity to wash the truck there after a wet Canning trip in 2010.couldnt wash anywhere in Halls and the causeway was perfect car wash spot.

its in the Camps Australia book- number 588 im my camps 4 book

cheers
Howard

I'd recommend Mary Pool also, but in the season it gets quite crowded.

There's another spot out from Hall's Creek, going towards Old Hall's Creek called Caroline Pool, if you don't feel like going too far in one day. The shop people will give you directions.

We have stayed there twice in the past, it's far enough out of town for the 'locals' to keep away, though on our last visit there were no facilities.

If the waterhole is full you can swim there, as were some 'other locals' when we arrived.

The creek bed is sandy, though if you have a FWD on it's own you will be O.K. We had a camper trailer, and had some fun getting out, but after letting some air out of the tyres, off we went.

Ngumban Cliff Lookout Rest Area a bit closer to Fitzroy Crossing than the crowded Mary Pool is another possibility Greendog.

I recall there were three CPs when we visited, but we didn't stay in town. You can check reports on them out on
Fitzroy Crossing on Badger's

theres an old abandoned mining camp well off the highway that way. no one ever gos there and the care taker there is a very accomadating bloke, only to eager to help with car troubles and share his water from the top end

plenty of people stay there but there doesnt seem to be any reviews as to the amenaties??

We found Mary Pool extremely crowded there last year in July, so we went on.Caroline Pool in from Halls Creek was brilliant. Easy to find. I think it is in the Camps book. Here is our camp spot.

We stayed at Sawpit george just south of Halls Creek. Fairly quiet and a nice swimming pool that locals caught fish and cooked while we ere there.
