I am wishing to hire a KIMBERLEY KARAVAN (not a Kamper) from mid June 2012 for approximately 6 - 10 weeks. Ideally it would be a late model with the en-suite and located within Victoria, SA or Southern NSW.

Hi again Serindipity (WA) & Michael A (ACT)
Sorry about the confusion (if any)....I am seeking to hire a Kimberley Karavan(late model preferred and not a Kimberley Kamper) for 6 - 10 weeks out of either Victoria (preferably) or SA or Southern NSW. We live in the western district of Vic. Our planned trip is through central SA, central WA, then north thru the Pilbara & Kimberly, back across the top of NT and home through Qld, NSW, SA & Vic..

Geoff,

I have a Karavan and we (SWMBO and I) love it. I'm not sure you'll find any for hire, but it's worth asking.

In Vic, call Victorian Camper Trailers, 300 South Gippsland Hwy, Dandenong South. Sorry, no phone number, you'll have to look it up.

In Southern NSW try Express Tool and Campers, Orange Grove Rd, Unanderra, ph 02 4271 1066. Speak to Peter Hands or Alan Drury.

Cheers

Frank

Geoff
you may be able to contact a member of the Kimberly Karavan owners group to post a request on their forum to see if any one would be interested in hiring their unit or know where you could try. Other than that it may be worth trying the agents links for both below.

Hope the links below work

Frank P above is Secretary/Treasurer, so it has already been noted. Frank may draw attention to the KKOG, but then I can't be sure of that

You could try Express Tools and Camping at Wollongong just south of Sydney. I know they hire KK trailers, but not sure about the Karavan.

When you look at the cost of hiring the KK trailer which is around $770 per week, you'd assume the Karavan will be more expensive, if you can actually hire one. Your minimum cost is likely to be around $7,000/8,000 for 10 weeks. Why not look at buying one and selling it when you've finished, might even work out cheaper for that period of time (just a thought!).

Good luck and enjoy....

Logic would suggest that you ring Kimberley Kampers & ask them who runs a hire fleet!

Geoff, I have mentioned the post on the KKOG site as an Associate Member and past owner Their Index Page - no, you won't get access. I gave the link to this page and at least one person in Sydney area, showed interest. Some members of our family used our KK at one stage and didn't find it too daunting for their first time on the Oodnadatta Track and some other associated side roads.
