Hi all.

I have a Jumbuck camper trailer. It's about 10 years old and still going strong.

The tent section is 13 feet long - on ground. Now that the 4 kids are older and not so likely to camp with us in the future, the bride and I are considering our options. We still enjoy camping under canvas, but just don't need the space of the large tent section. Not only that, the effort that goes with setting up and packing up, as the tent is made of quite heavy duty canvas.

As we will be moving to a caravan within 5 years, we wanted to minimise expenditure. The budget would be say $2,000. There are a few options:

1. Sell the existing trailer and tent combo and purchase a smaller replacement - least preferred, as I now have the trailer "just right", with electrics, fridge and all the bits.

2. Try and sell the existing tent section (maybe not so easy) and purchase a smaller replacement - whether new - Oztrail or similar, or second hand.

3. Have the tent section shortened considerably to about 6 or 7 feet long.

Number 3 is probably my preferred option, only trouble is, trying to get someone to do the work. Jumbuck unfortunately, are no longer trading. I live in southern Sydney, and so far have been able to find someone interested in doing the work. I'm prepared to travel - several hours if necessary.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Thanks heaps for the heads up.

I mentioned to him how my enquiry came about, and mentioned your "name".
