I have just purchased the Natmap Raster 250K mapsheets on CD from Explore Oz. As I don't want to take the originals with me on a trip, I decided to copy them. (I don't want to put them on the hard drive due to space constraints).
CD 1 copied fine but CD 2 won't. I have Roxio (Easy CD Creator platinum 5) and use windows XP. I have tried direct CD, Data CD & Disc Copier, all to no avail. The test works fine, but when trying to copy disc 2, I get the message "error from output device".

Any ideas please?

Dave

Dave, try copying to hard drive then to disk, if it works delete from hard drive. You will have to load the raster viewer to your hard to view the maps on the cd's.Regards Bob

Thanks Bob,
I have already tried puting it on the hard drive - it still won't copy & comes up with the same message. I don't like the thought of having to carry the originals on a trip into the hot areas.

Errol, The Ipac option is expensive when you add ozi CE version for Ipac & SF or CD storage cards for your maps. I'm lucky mine is for bussiness so can right it off. check out post 9182 in the follow ups for a remote screen option for $300 which looks great & screen is 7in, Ipac screen is 80mm high & 60mm wide + maps are slow to load in moving map as oposed to laptop speed. If you do need more info on Ipacs check out the ozi ce site @ yahoo groups. By the time i payed for the Ipac, expansion pac ,storage cards , power & data leads it was about $1800.00Regards Bob

Hrm...

They are either copy protected or the 2nd disk is damaged.

Try to copy the maps off the CD, then reburn the directory.

It this doesn't work, report the disk under warranty.

Dave did you buy the discounted version as we only have the 2003 units available. We did offer the last older one at a special price being the last disk we had. In any case this should not be the problem.Regards

Another thought - As the system is telling you error on OUTPUT device this means the drive you are copying to not from, what size CD are you writing to - Is it big enough to hold all the data - ie. You are not trying to write 700MB to a 650MB media!Regards

Yes but if the supplied disk was RS how can he copy the data from the CD to the HDD. I have been emailing Dave direct and he has been able to load the CD onto his HDD. Then when he goes to take the copy from the HDD to a blank CD he gets this error.

This means there is nothing wrong with the original CD! It is not even in the machine when the error come up.

If there is fault we will of course swap it, but he can take the data from the CD to the HDD it fails when he is writing back to a blank CD.

This is why I am wondering about the size of the disk he is writing to and the size of the original CD. Series 2 - Disk 2 is smaller in size than new one.Regards

There is known conflict between Easy CD creator and XP. Go to Kazaa lite and download Nero 6 ultra. If you can read what is on the cd you will be able to burn it.

The only conflict between easy cd platinumand win XP is if you install easy cd platinum without the upgrade.
BUT REMEMBER, WHEN U DOWNLOAD THE UPGRADE. MAKE SURE U UNINSTALL THE ORIGINAL FIRST, THEN RE INSTALL IT, and at the end of the install when it askes you to reboot...SAY NO..and start installing the upgrade, then re boot and your problem is solved.....if this sounds complicated, you are welcome to email me ...i will try to simplify it for anyone interested.. cokeaddict@optusnet.com.au

Nero's the way to go Dave, but you'll now need to have it loaded onto your PC to read the new CD.Smile, you're on ExplorOz
