Road conditions

Hi, this is Mark - my partner Vicki and I have been members for some time but this is our first thread (if that's what it's called). We are from NZ and have just started to do the big loop around Oz. We are very inexperienced and need all the help we can get! Thanks in advance. We are currently in The Entrance and would like to go South on Monday to Kiama. Could anyone please tell us if there is any reason why we shouldn't go, i.e. due to weather/road conditions, etc. We would like to free camp too - any suggestions? Cheers.

Hi chevy14, Roads are ok all the way to Kiama, a friend in kiama has just been to Sydney and back with no problems. I would suggest getting Camp 6 Australia it has all the free camp spots in it and with pictures makes finding a free camp easy, can buy it at most caravan centres or 4WD centres.

Travellers free camp on the harbour at kiama and at local headlands nearby there is also a large roadside stop/overnight parking area approx 3klm north of kiama on the main hwy.there is great beachside legal free camping approx 4 klm south of lake tabourie. The overnight parking is signposted as not allowed in kiama however we have a couple of campers that have been camping övernight "in kiama for over 12 months you will see them.

The road is major highway all the way no worries.
