Seasons greetings to all. Just to let you know I have added six more rest areas, with photos, to my Caravanning Capers website.

They are Coominglah Range, Mulgildie, Ceratodus, Munduberra, Gayndah and Ban Ban Springs ... all situated on the Burnett Highway (Highway 17).

I've also updated the latest trip page.

Wizzy,

maybe you can help me. I will be travelling from Broken Hill to Ballina in early Jan and am looking for a quick and cheap overnight stop.

There are two options for the route. Broken Hill to Nevertire then by the Oxley Hwy to Coonabarrabran form here I can go 1) Nth to Narrabri, Bingara, Delungra, Glen Innes and Grafton or 2) East to Gunnedah, Tamworth, Armidale and Grafton.

I am looking to stop hopefully around Bingara on route 1) or Tamworth on route 2)

Do you know a good overnight stop near either of these places or do you know a different route that would offer me a good overnight about 10 hrs from Broken Hill.

Thanks in advance
and all the best for the New Year

Sorry Duncs, I'm not familiar with either route so can't really help. Have you seen Camps Australia Wide? A very useful book available from bookshops for around $40 and containing info on most rest areas in Oz. Maybe you could sneak a look without buying (no, I didn't suggest that!). Good luck with your trip.

Dennis,

Thanks mate, it was just a long shot. After l;ooking at your website i guessed you were more familiar with Qld.

There are a couple of State Forests along the bouth routes so if I need to I'll just pull in along a fire trail and find a spot.

I have considered doing the free read thing but the guy at the local bookshop is getting to know me

Hope you have a good New Year, maybe see you on the road.
