Despite relatively positive comments elsewhere on
the Granites Mine and contribution to the economy, the
mine has removed access to the attractive rock outcrops which are pretty much the only features of note in this area. So you are obliged to just keep driving.
The road in this area can be flooded for long distances. Our trip of April 2007 encountered 200 metres at about 60cm decending to 70cm for short distance. A bit daunting to the solo driver. Road conditions generally excellent.
