Will be leaving
Canberra on May 14 to do the Matilda Highway and the Savanah Way and have to be in
Cairns on May 23.
The wife and myself will be
free camping in Oztent when possible and stay in caravan parks only when we smell bad or need to wash some clothing.
As we will be on our own and never having been this way before any pointers or must see
places or any other advice will be much appreciated.
Jake and Lucy
Will be in 80 series with 33" Wranglers with Rear locker

Longreach would be a MUST do destination - heaps to see and do there.
Winton is great also - some beautiful
views from the jump-ups there. Before getting onto the
Savannah Way I would make a detour to the
Gregory River and
Lawn Hill Gorge - both amazing
places, there are some great
free camping areas on the banks of the
Gregory River. I haven't done the
Savannah Way but have heard
Karumba is also a must-visit place.

They are some of the
places we were thinking of going . Haven't got anything definite in mind as we will be making our minds up as we get there type of thing. Thanks for the info.
