How's
Gladstone north of Sharkbay for a stopover? Busy or quiet? Good fishing etc?

Gladstone is ok, about 6 km from the h.way and right on the water. Used to be an old shipping port. Still has remnants of the old jetty there. I has basic facilities,
toilet and rubbish disposal. You have to bring your own water. There are quite a few
camp sites and if you arrive early enough in the afternoon you would be very unlucky not to get a site. I think there is a nominal charge but not sure about that. The only problem may be rain. The track in, through a
gate, can become impassable after about 10mm rain. Good luck. Cheers
