Hi everyone, we have just bought an Oztent rv1 with plans to use it as a roof top tent on our trailer. Just wondering if anyone else has experience doing something similar? And if so any suggestions for the base that would not be too heavy or too expensive? Would also appreciate suggestions for manufacturers of same and a waterproof cover in the
Sydney area. It is a suggested option by oztent to use the rv1 in this way but to date they don't sell the necessary accessories. Thanks for any help.

Hi David, You could sell your current and buy a reasonably cheap RTT , it can be fitted easily to a set of bars on your trailer or to your vehicle. The RTT has additional thermal advantages with the folding floor..
Mine is permanently fitted to my Patrol as you can see in my photo.. Michael

I have thought about doing similar.
Just use some external grade 20mm ply and seal it
well, thats what most soft floor camper trailers use for a base.
I think it is a better idea that a roof top tent as you can put in a innerspring mattress if you like and store all your bedding etc, then just get a cover made to suit.
