Birdsville - Cordillo Downs - Cameron Corner

A friend of mine plans to leave in about 3 weeks to go to Birdsville, then Inaminca (via Cordillo DOwns) and on to Cameron Corner. Lucky cow - I wish I could go with him.

I know it all depends on rain or the lack thereof, but what are the current road conditions? What is the condition of the road and are there any creeks to cross? Does he need a SA Desert Pass? If so, where does he get one from?

Plenty of dry creeks to cross (depending on the weather lol) on the road from Birdsville down to Innamincka. It's a stony track but generally in good condition. They were doing a lot of work on it this time 12 months ago. Plenty to see and as I've always said, "Time spent by the Cooper is time not deducted from ones lifespan!"

Birdsville and the track to Innamincka

Down to Cordillo and the Cooper

I was up there about a month ago and the roads were in reasonable condition. Camerons corner to Innaminka was quite good and the lower half of the Cordillo Downs road was excellent. I cut off the CD road to go up to Haddons corner, but others in the group went on up the CD road and at Birdsville there vehicles looked like they had driven through the road rather than over it. The Arrabury to Birdsville road was excellent though.

Can you elaborate on 'bottom end'. I'm heading out that way at the end of September and want to go from Innamincka to Birdsville via Cordillo Downs. Does this mean that the initial part from Innamincka is closed?
