Finished the run thru there today after Palm springs yesterday and no real issues its quite dry with only 1 water crossing (under 500mm).

Definately some sandy sections but basically didn't need 4wd in the car however with CT definately would and you would need to be careful where you stopped, ut it is quite doable as per other posts with some care.

On our strip map it shows a long straight very sandy section just outside park on the southern side near ernst giles road.

This whole section has been graded and is quite wide and typical of outback sandy road.

Seriously pretty run , but has some quite twisty bits so CT would need good articulation as mostly you are running on river bed.

The actual point marked Boggy hole is ons of the prettiest camp site you can find Greendog.

Gday,
Yeah....no worries....as long as your used to towing in sand. You have to go back out to Hermansburg from Palm Valley though....the track between them is a service track for the rangers only.

You can continue on through Boggy Hole to Kings Canyon. You just cant cut through from Palm Valley to Boggy Hole....you have to go back out to Hermansberg after Palm Valley, then to Boggy Hole.

Hi Greendog,
We were there a month ago, the whole drive through Finke Gorge is beautiful. We came across someone with a camper trailer who had been stuck for 3 hours on the main track. After reducing their tyre pressures they were out very quickly....
Have fun, it's a great part of the world and one of my favourite spots on our trip!

Hi Greendog
Letting your tyres down will help you get through, there are some tight corners with very soft sand. A couple in a Britz Nissan Patrol burnt their clutch out when we were there a couple of years ago because they couldn't let their tyres down, they didn't have a compressor. Lucky we had a sat phone, rang Britz in Alice Springs and they just brought another one out for them.
Cheers
