We got back last weekend from a similar trip.
Tibooburra > Cameron Corner, corrugated but still a good drive
CC > Noccundra, roads recently repaired but sharp rocks, we slashed a tyre
Noccundra > Thargomindah, Good roads all the way
Thargo > Innamincka, Good roads all the way
Innamincka > Arrabury > Cordillo Downs > Birdsville, Corrugations, ruts and rough dry creek crossings made this the best part of the trip in my eyes. An amazing drive in incredible country.

We did it from Melbourne in an 05 Pajero towing a homebuilt Teardrop camper on it's first trip.

I wanna go baaaaccckkkk...........

Just be aware that conditions can change and roads closed over a short timeframe.

There's an info line for NSW road conditions (the RTA map is not much use) and a website for SA. See 'Road Conditions' links on this website.
