Looking at the map found here:Wiluna Shire Road Map

It shows a "Proposed Drive Trail - possible completion 2012/2013" between the CSR and the Wiluna Granite Peak Road. Does this mean they're building a new east-west road to connect those two? Or something else?

I won't be in the area anytime soon, but I'm still curious what that is.

I'm trying to avoid calling Wiluna from the States, I'm hoping someone here knows what this is about!

Sorry, I meant USA! LOL, didn't even think about how that could be misinterpreted.

Hi

Nothing definitive for you but the track appears to already exist (250K map shows several "station tracks" across here - assume they are referring to one of these).

So suspect they may just be upgrading it or adding signs etc as apposed to actually putting a new road in.

Cheers
Greg
I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

HEMA Desert Tracks Southwest already shows these roads in place - including the run through Granite Peak, which is the alternate route for vehicles towing trailers....

Interesting though .... If the Wiluna Shire is advertising this round route as "Tourist Attraction", does this mean they are going to maintain the CSR between Wiluna to Well 5? and if so, does this remove the restriction on trailers?

Actually, re-looking at the map - it's a 'Proposed Drive Trail' and Cunya Station section is still no trailers

Candace,

Just looking at the map, I'd suggest it's one of those tourist loop, or ring road, that they could do in a day.

For the less intrepid, they could do this, and say, on their return, that they've done the CSR, & Gunbarrel in one day.

Have a few similar loop roads around Winton too. They are just normal roads, but given a tourist flair, with a few extra signs, as previously suggested.

Bob.

Can't remember most of it.

G'day, looks to me to be a tourist drive loop, using existing tracks and roads. The track already exists thru Granite Peak to Well 5, costs $20 a vehicle. Cheers.
