Just your name or callsign or some identifying words, followed by what channel you are on. For example, when touring I have a yellow sign on the back of my camper which says UHF 18/40 IRON MAN (in the font used by Iron Maiden!)

Hi ironman I know 40 is for the truckers but 18 is it a preference or a out back channel just that I've seen a lot of caravans with it on the back..

you could have a bit of fun with that.

jcar sell a led thingy that you see in shops type a message and it displays it.
its meant for cars, its like the stuff you see on police, rta vehicles.
but the public can buy it, less than a 100.
be pretty funny.
12vlt/240. like

back off idiot.

common give us a push.

and the gday ch40 the game, is my name.

It is accepted practise that:

Channel 40 is the truckies channel and is good for general highway information as well, passed on by the truckies to each other.

Channel 29 is the truckies channel on the Pacific Higway between Sydney and Brisbane only.

Channel 20 is recognised as the Motorhome channel.

Channel is accepted as the caravaners channel and for anybody else who is travelling on Hols. We don't mind sharing LOL. and we'll talk to everybody and anybody LOL.

Here is a link to the accepted frequency usage for the new 80 Channel UHF frequencies. I have used the new 80 channel radio with the 40 channel radios and they work OK.

UHF Link

Cheers, Bruce.

The Vietnam colours, one for the workshop we go to and the old faithful eels sticker.

Nothing to identify us.

Then again we don't have a van to put it on.
