Currently looking at purchasing a new Nissan Navara D22 4x4 ST-R Dual Cab. Will be used mainly for work (plasterer) and sometimes towing a trailer. Would love to hear any feedback on this model.

Only genuine feedback please, no Nissan vs Toyota arguments please. Cheers.

It might pay to look at an Isuzu as well.

Had mine for 12 months and goes well, also tows a small van with no effort.

And the price will continue to drop effecting your resale as sales for Navaras drop.
We brought six d40s for work and the only dealer that would trade them back in was the Nissan dealer.

Not a fan of Navaras, I don't like the aluminium tailshaft idea at all. Any slight pressure and it must be replaced.
Many of them use more fuel than other brands particularly if chipped. Easily recognized by the black smoke.
Mazda/Ford 5cyl 3.2 are good once the bugs are fixed. Good economy
For the price the Isuzu is good value. Good economy.

Toyota does the same things but is more expensive.
One thing to watch/be aware of is if it actually gets serviced, no matter what brand you buy.

Ask people who own vehicles from the dealer you intend to buy from.
They usually have stickers and number plate free ads so you can identify who to talk to Finding out this vital aspect of new vehicle ownership will/can save much heartache during the life of the warranty.

Nissan give $5k off the price if you have an ABN. What other companies do that?

I take it you don't want to use the rear seat for adults. The difference in the wheelbase between the D22 & D40 is 250 mm, most of that is in the rear seat area.

Biggy
Bought a NEW 2010 D22 for my son & its been a great ute BUT would i buy one again NO The torrsion bar front susspension is crapp as a std ute was fine but as soon as we fitted a bull bar & then a winch had to up grade the front end (same as you would with most 4wd) but even after many trips back to ARB & several torssion bars later. That torsion bar tapps like an angry woodpecker under the driver & passangers seats even on a reasonable sealed road the diff/steer end stops are allso crap & wear out in weeks so if you have the car on a full lock on uneven ground it will sound terable
The Dual batterys are wired as one so if you loose a cell in one both a pretty useless beware if you disconect one the leads will be live, towed a guy out of bendeathra as he had burnt out the engine compartment at bendeathra as he shorted out the wirering changing a battery & was close to loosing the lot

G'day Biggy,

I use mine for work (tree lopping) every day & take it bush when I can. It really shines on difficult roads, but is as slow as in city traffic with a loaded trailer behind it.

We just got back from a 5,000 km trip (around 2,500 on dirt roads) with 4 adults on board & it never missed a beat.

It towed a camper trailer up the Oodnadatta track, including the side road to the Peake ruins, the painted desert, Finke, Mt Dare, Dalhousie, Lambert's centre, the old Ghan heritage track, Chamber's Pillar, Alice, Mereenie loop, Palm Valley & Kings Canyon.

It has done 2 trips to the Flinder's, including all the gorges.

Earlier this year it towed a camper trailer through the Gawler ranges.

Last year it did an 11,000 km trip including the Gibb River Road, the Bungles & Jim Jim road.

I'm sure I've forgotten some of the places it's been, but you get the idea!

I haven't had ANY of the issues I read people writing about on internet forums about D22's.

It's coming up 2 years old, so time to trade it for tax purposes, I've had a trade in price & it's held it's value really well. I got mine for $28,880 on road & they're offering me around that as a trade in.

Cheers,

Kevin.

I tow my camper trailer with my kids wife full loaded and does not miss a beat. If u look after it it will look after u.
