Bazooka
Sister's son (city slicker, 7) wants to experience
bush camping for the first time so I'm looking for safe but interesting
places within a couple of hours drive from
Sydney (they live in the Hornsby vicinity). Will probably need facilities (
toilets as a minimum) as I don't want to scare him off. Ideas, comments most welcome.

Munmorah National
park, Central coast.
Has grassed tent sites, gravel and grass Van sites,
toilets, cold showers near beach.
But will cost you.
Cheers

Gday Bazooka
My wife would be heading for the Hilton, she doesn't care where it is , and there has to be one about an hour from Hornsby.

Lithgow; right on the
water, great spot.

The
free camp at Broke has
toilets and is on the river, 15 minutes to Pokolbin and the Hunter Valley wineries. A 90 minute drive through
Wollombi north.

Kanangra - although probably a bit more than 2 hours outside of
Sydney but the
main camp ground has a nice shelter and
toilets

Thanks folks, some good ideas as usual and I'll now do more reading about your suggestions.
Mike - I'm not sure he's old enough to try Dr Jurd's Jungle Juice just yet but I reckon his father would like your idea quite a lot.
