Had a bushman for years cant rave enough about it, seen some real punishment and heaps of use including home use and its awesome. Originally bought it because it rated around same as top 2 for maintaining temperature but had less amp draw only drawback is dedicated as either fridge or frezzer I found setting it at 2 degrees kept everything really cold with openings of it.

I see they have gone from the Italian ACC compressor to a Danfoss unit. Any disadvantages to this?

I asked that question when I bought mine and was told it was a bit of same same and more a political decision , danfross seems to be more popular than the Italian one with the other suppliers

I have one as well, we run two fridges
The biggest problem with all brands of fridges is electonic failure, with the Bushman you have a bypass switch that allows you to manually activate the compressor to keep your food cold in case of a failure and the whole electrical panel is plug and play so you can fit a new control panel yourself easily
Bushman say they will express post a new panel to you anywhere in Austalia overnight so that you are up and running with minimal fuss again and the replacement parts are less than $200 I believe
Whilst very happy with the fridge anyway this is there greatest feature I believe after witnessing a mate whose 4 year old fridge ( that brand that everyone says they have had for 20 years and never missed a beat) failed on him during a trip and he had no choice but to pay through the nose for a new one in a little country town to keep going then got his old one fixed on his return and sold one off on eBay
They are not a fancy looking fridge but get the job done and they are a nice Austalian family business as a bonus

Hi Alby, The bypass function only applies to the thermostat control, not the entire electronics which actually provide the drive to the motor. When applied it keeps the fridge running continuously regardless of internal temperature. But I guess even that is better than nothing even though an electronic thermostat is pretty simple and should not be prone to failure.

The Bushman now uses a Danfoss compressor as do a number of others but I don't know whose electronics they use. However they do have a good reputation.

Cheers
Allan

Hi Rob,

We have had our Bushman for five years now and it has performed flawlessly. I was a bit sceptical initially as we had an Engel before.

We purchased ours at the Sydney Caravan and Camping show and found their NSW Central Coast dealer based at West Gosford to provide excellent support and service.

We have met many owners since buying ours and they have had no issues. The Bushman also had a good review a few years ago in a 4WD magazine comparison.

Ours had the Danfos compressor.

Cheers,
PeteS

My Bushman would have to be the best fridge I have ever used, it walks all over the rest. The aftermarket help is unbelievable from this Aussie Company.

Don’t know anything about the Bushman.
I have seen extension lids on other portable fridges - not very practical in hot weather.

Hi Rob

Bought my bushman so long ago I can't recall, back before they were popular and cheap when they worked out of the factory in Yennora. Though it does have a danfos compressor. Bounced all over the country now worries, highly recommended.

Hi, we have a bushman got it 2nd hand and have had it for years, so I don't know how old it is. It's a great fridge and is in the back of the 100 series and goes all the time
cheers Judy
