Review: Nash Creek Camp Ground - VIC

My Place Rating: My Rating 3/5

Just spent a pleasant weekend at this nice little campsite only an hour or so out of Melbourne. There is one pit toilet (wheelchair friendly) and about 6 separate campsites. Each site has its own parking bay and picnic table and there is a degree of privacy between the sites. Only sites 1 & 2 are virtually adjacent. Site 1 is by far the largest and offers room for multiple tents.
The grass was quite boggy though following recent rains. As we had our camper we had to stop on the blue metal driveway due to the installation of heavy bollards. This is not the best underfoot but certainly kept our feet dryer than if we had been on the grass. Although not peak season we saw plenty of day trippers and had 2 or 3 fellow campers in other sites. THE BIGGEST DRAWBACK is the motorcycles and hoon 4WD element. I know they are found all over but the close proximity to Melbourne means lots of late night loud exhausts and high speed trucks. Added to this is the constant buzz of bikes during the day - and night if you are unlucky enough to share the site with rev heads who like to drag up and down the campsite entrance. This spoiled an otherwise peaceful retreat with plenty of interesting birdlife. Bikers would rate this closer to 5/5. As a camper looking for a quiet retreat i'm giving it a 3 :-)
