Hi,
I am considering importing a Truma heater from the UK. I am aware that I will not have a local Warranty. Can members please advise in there are local repairers who can repair any faults that may occur.
Thank you for your advise, Barry.
PS, I am not looking for reasons not to import, simply a repair agents name etc.

Hi Wombat,
Sorry... I am in Adelaide, and I am hoping to find a local repairer should things go wrong. I know Truma will dis-own me, but I am sure they simply farm out their warranty work anyway. I would like to know who to turn to if needed. I am assuming that the local heater warranty is something like 12 months max anyway. That will go very quickly, for both me, and anyone who has paid $1500 to a local seller here in OZ.
I am hoping that members can recommend a repairer.

Thanks for your reply, Barry

Hi, can't help you directly with your query.
However can I suggest you search for "Truma" on the seach function of this forum. I recall the brand name being on here and it was mentioned they should be renamed Trauma..!!! Maybe their comments could be useful.Cheers G

I know you weren't looking for a reason not to import, but i thought i would still offer one important issue why you need to be careful with importing a gas appliance from my experience as a license gasfitter. All appliances whether they be domestic, RV or commercial needs to carry an AGA [Australian Gas Association ] compliance plate, for use in Australia, and without one you find it hard to find a lic gasfitter to install and sign off on a installers compliance plate/certification as he can only install an approved product. The heater you are looking at when sold through the Australian Distrubitor Dometic are marked with the AGA approvial. Now i am not saying the imported model may be any different but be aware of the need for the approval.
I have installed only a couple in my time but when working they work well.
As for repair agents,in Sydney there is one at Arndell Park called Alternate Gas Refrigeration. who fix all Engel and Dometic products.I guess Dometic would have a list of their repair agents in all areas of Aust.

This has been covered before, yes the locally imported one is different. I can't recall exactly but it was significant, it was only single speed iirc but more importantly had an extra circuit board and sensor that accompanied it, something to do with the safety circuit to comply with Australian Gas regs. As rags said with AGA approval a licensed gas fitter shouldn't install it which leaves you to install it yourself. Not saying you can't but I wouldn't should something go wrong it's your neck.

Pricing wise they used to be about $1200-1300 here but seem to have gone up in the last year, I don't know if it's due to them gaining popularity over diesel or it was winter time? Hoping it's the later and they come down a bit over summer?
