Victoria High Country

I am looking for advice as to when is the best time of year to visit the Vic High Country. I am looking at planning a trip during 2013 and as I am from South Oz I am not familiar with this area.
Also any advice on what are the best area's to visit and what maps should I look at getting.

We are looking at spending about 5 day in the region. So if you can offer any advise I would be great full.

Gday Vern,
5 days is not a long time in the High Country, but you'll see enough to have a great time and keep coming back. Where you go all depends on how adverturous you are when it comes to 4wding.

From adelaide we usually come in via Mansfield, Bright or Walhalla. Can I suggest you go in via Mansfield - maybe camp at places like Pineapple Flat and Howqua River and do drives out from there. Nice clean rivers and plenty of places where you'll get a good view. Maybe visit Craigs Hut, drive across Mount Stirling, climb the Bluff etc.

Cheers
Phil
