Hi there,
We (Wife, 7mth old baby) are heading back Sydney bound as we approach the end of our 7 week trip. As our first trip it's been an awesome experience and too many memories to list. Turtles and dingoes on Fraser, cycling round Ayers Rock, staying underground at Coober Pedy. But most valuable is the people we met.

So, we're currently in the Barossa Valley and after a few days here will be heading east. Question is which way with 10days to spare getting to Syd? We are toying with the Vic high country, as have done a fair bit of outback, and its hotting up now, meaning the Hay route isn't a go.

Any thoughts?

Hi. I think it will get pretty warm which ever way you go. If you want a nice scenic drive come across Hwy B12 to Ouyen (make sure you stop at the Cafe) over to Swan Hill, Echuca, Shepparton, Wangaratta, Wodonga and home. 10 days will not be long enough with the sights between towns. Cheers,Bob.

Hi mijango

From the Barossa, you are only a stones throw from Truro, then to Blanchtown, which will bring you out on the Murray River. Follow it down until Murray Bridge and then down along the Coorong to Robe. At this time of the year Robe will be just great. Keep on going down to Mt Gambier, again with lots to see in the area.

Make your way along the Great Ocean Road, it is just a great drive. Take the ferry from Queenscliff to the Mornington Peninsula and again lots to see there. You can then make your way into the Victorian High country and then you are almost home.

Which ever way you go, have a great time to finishing off you great sounding holiday?

Cheers

I like the sound of that Stephen - thanks!
I had originally thought that may be slightly too far with the baby but there are some quick stretches of road in there if the girls out vote me!
Only slight amendment I'm thinking is heading to Mclaren Vale and then down to Goolwa and across what looks like a series of causeways and along the Coorong that way. Looks like some pretty interesting off road routes.

What do you reckon?

Just realised I didn't mention the rig. An 80 series Land Cruiser and Cub Brumby camper trailer (both of which have stood up exceedingly well to Oz's harsh off road conditions)
