I have had a 97
Camp'o'matic weekender for about 6 years now and it has been around Australia and on the worst tracks imaginable with no problems.
It has independent
suspension which has proven robust and follows exactly on corrugations. I don't think it has ever skipped sideways.
The old bloke who built them in Yatala until 2004 was an absolute fanatic for quality , even to the extent of cutting all canvas on site, and making his own stub axles for the
suspension.
Challenge in
Sydney now make them, but really I doubt whether the recent quality is as good as the oldies. the only real down side is that there is no history of parts that survived numerous ownership changeovers since 2004, so it would be difficult if anything fails to get an exact replacement, but that applies to most camper trailers.

Pat and I had a Campomatic for eight years, bought it in Yatala from the designer and original maker. It was the best thing that I have ever bought, we took it all over Aust. crossed Arhemland twice, it climed mountains, crossed flooded rivers etc.etc. and never once let us down. Wherever we took the Landcruiser it followed, easy to set up, hard floor and solid Alko
suspension. If you can find one in good condition, go for it.
Cheers, Bundy.
