Hi there all,
Looking for suggestions from you fine folk regarding free camping along the Murray river around cobram. We have young kids and are looking for a nice spot with a beachy type entrance to the river? Any thoughts? And yes, I can keep it a secret..........
Cheers Chris.

Nootsa
We've stayed at Police Padddocks a couple of times and have enjoyed the stay. Very popular but somewhat small camp area so time of year will determine site availability

Chris, We came thru Cobram a fortnight ago on our way back to Sydney. I turned east towards Corowa on the Mulwala/Barooga Rd and traveled for I forget how many K's (20 ?) looking for an overnight camp, when I noticed a sign on the southern side slightly off the road, "Boomanoomana State Forest", so I turned in and followed the track 4.5 kms out to the river, what a bonus, sandy beach sloping into the water, good swimming and not another soul in sight, it was so good we stayed three nights.
Don't tell others.

We were there a few weeks ago. Scott's beach is no longer there, washed away.
We stayed at Horseshoe beach boat ramp, not far from "Scott's" right on the Murray, the road in is a bit rough , just go slow, no toilets, but free. We stayed for a week.

We were there mid November and stayed at Big Tom's Beach - just out of town but may get busy. A nice beach are though for kids. Go to the tourist information centre or ring - they are very helpful
