In case you missed it the Ross River Campground has been burnt out possibly by a backburn gone wrong.

That is quite sad that a burn off has got out of control and caused so much damage to the property. We visited last year and whilst the cabins were quite old, it added to the history of the place in some ways. Glad that the homestead hasn't been damaged.

Depends whether it is an NT strain or Qld strain. Ross river in in Townsville.

It would be nice if journos could use the correct terminology. Was it a prescribed burn also known as “burning off”, “hazard reduction burning” or “controlled burning” or was it Backburning, Used specifically as a firefighting strategy to deprive an oncoming fire of fuel (i.e. “fighting fire with fire”). ???

With Headlines like "Ross River Resort burnt, homestead survives" it would also good if the photo that acompanied it of a fire passing around a house was actually of Ross River Homestead too! LOL

Bushfires and blazing heat...wish I could have something inbetween your extreme and the one we're having! It should be down to about -20C here tonight (Sat. night), more of the same Sunday night.
