Trilby to Bourke via western Road to Louth then Eastern Road to Bourke

Left Trilby this morning and drove to Bourke via Louth. The road from Trilby to Louth wasn’t as good as the road up from Tilpa. Sections were badly corrugated especially either side of the grids. There was plenty of wildlife in the form of kangaroos and emus with the occasional Stumpy lizard.
Leaving Louth we decided to take the eastern road as it followed the river and was shorter. The road obviously carries a large amount of traffic and was corrugated in sections, and in others you could sit on 100km/h. There were some long sections of bitumen and from the roadworks in place they are increasing this. More wildlife as before but also included a small goanna sunning beside the road.
We arrived in Burke just before lunch and visited the “Back O Burke visitor centre, to get a street map and to find some points we wanted to visit. The only caravan park in town that takes dogs is the one in town (Mitchel Caravan Park) so we booked in and were met by a very friendly couple. After shopping to replenish the supplies we settled in and rested.
