Today we were up with the sun to get to Monkey Mia in time for the 7.45 dolphin experience, they do 3 experiences per day prior to 12 o'clock and we ended up staying for all three. Because of the change in what they allow, they only feed about 3-4 dolphins three fish each, during each experience so they are really not keen (one even spat out the fish and didn't eat it). So it is a very different experience from years ago, however we did get to see two dolphins very close.

After this lovely morning with the dolphins we decided to go to Cape Peron which is the most northern point of the Francois Peron (Wulyibidi) National Park in Shark Bay, a 4WD was necessary and we had out first experience of sand driving. They say it is the journey not the destination and this was certainly the case with areas of deep very soft sand, which had me thinking I was on a ride at the show. It was a 42km one way journey so I think we could now say we are experienced sand 4WD travellers.

We first stopped at the Peron Homestead Precinct, the old overseers quarters has been converted into a display for visitors. The homestead artesian bore was drilled in 1922-1923 and the water was pumped by three windmills to nine watering points for livestock. Today visitors can have a hot water soak if they wish.
At the sheep station the structures are preserved allowing you to see this early local industry.

The colours and scenery at Skipjack point lookout on the cliff edge is spectacular and where we were able to see sharks and rays, you can see the line where in the ocean where the sea grasses grow.
