This small National
Park (12 hectares) is just 7 kilometres off the
New England Highway and is about 210km (or 2 hours drive) NW of
Brisbane (or 100km north of
Toowoomba). The
park features a small remnant of Piccabeen palms surrounded by a belt of subtropical rainforest with a number of huge Moreton Bay figtrees. It is a quite magical vine forest in a spring-fed gully where birds, frogs, bats and other wildlife can be seen and heard on an impressive rainforest boardwalk through the Piccabean palms. The
park is home to
Grey-headed Flying Foxes. The
park is also known by its former name of Boldery
Park. Enjoy easy walks through the vegetation for a day trip. There is no
camping in the Palms National
Park.
