Historic steam driven woolscour. A visit to the Blackall Historical Woolscour is a unique experience where the original wool scouring (cleaning) machinery can be seen in operation. The ingenuity from over a century ago is there for you to see in action as the passionate tour guides offer insights into the lives of our rural forefathers involved in the wool industry around the time of the industrial revolution. The original steam engine has also been refurbished and operates periodically for those steam buffs.Volunteers provide a friendly atmosphere of welcome that ensures the Blackall Woolscour is one of the best authentic experiences in the region, acknowledged as one of the best industrial heritage sites in Australia.Open seven days a week for tours from 30th March 2026 the end of October, this experience is just one on offer in our fabulous outback town. Add Blackall to your itinerary and spend a couple of days immersing yourself in the rich history of the Central West.The original machinery is operational every day durring the sesion.Gates open at 9.00am. Guided tours operate 3 times a day 7 days a week; ( 9:30am, 11.30am and 1.30pm.)Please note: You have to be on a tour to see the woolscour machinery. The rest of the grounds are free to enter.
