Well worth the travel along the dirt road to get in. The 1km steep climb to the top of the falls is
well worth the effort, million dollar
views from the pools at the top of the waterfall.Gunlom Falls, one of
Kakadu National Park’s most iconic attractions, was closed in 2019 following damage to a sacred site and a lengthy High Court case, but is now open (CORRECT AT 5th July 2025)Significant investment and
infrastructure upgrades have been made to ensure visitor safety and to respect the cultural significance of the area for the Traditional Owners.Famous for its cascading waterfall and crystal-clear plunge pool, Gunlom offers a rewarding short hike to
the summit, where you'll be treated to breathtaking panoramic
views of the
park. For a more relaxed visit, enjoy a swim at the lower pool, complete with a pristine
sandy beach and clear waters—perfect for cooling off and unwinding.Located in the
