Sitting 560 metres above sea level, Mt Zamia plateau was formed from horizontal layers of sticky oozing trachyte lava that periodically flowed from the
Springsure Volcano, piling up in successive layers. Mt Boorambool-the highest peak of the
park at 600 metres-is a basalt peak and can be seen from
Springsure lookout.
