Information

Horsetailers’ Gorge 2km south of Gray Rock was used by drovers passing through the area in the 1870s to camp at night. The horsetailers used to drive their horses into the gorge so they would not stray at night. The horsetailers job was to look after the horses and put them into the best patch of feed and make sure they got into camp soon after daylight each morning. Each man would catch a horse and saddle it up ready for the day. These days the area is mostly full of spinifex but its a natural point of interest to visit and easy to reach not far from the town of Aramac.
